Friendly reminder that after a game 7 loss, Brooks Laich was driving home and saw two Capitals fans, a mother and a daughter, at the side of the road with a flat tire. He stopped, asked if they had a spare, got out the tire and started jacking up the car.
The first words out of his mouth were, “I’m sorry we lost.”
The whole thing lasted an hour. Laich got the tire changed, and cautioned the mother to drive slowly on the way home, to listen closely for any rattling sounds. She agreed, and said she didn’t know how she could possibly thank him.
"I’m sure you’ll do something nice for someone in the future," Laich responded. He hugged them and drove off. (source)
